I currently work as a production manager for The Good Looks Crew. My main responsibilities other than assisting the leads, are managing the storyboard department and running the company LinkedIn.

Crafting the Storyboard Dept.

In early August, The Good Looks Crew (TGLC) needed a storyboard department. I was tasked to create and lead it. I started with creating an application on Google Forms and then made a crew call on our LinkedIn. That post got good traction so we ended up with around 150 applicants! During the hiring process we also asked applicants to do a short storyboard test, so I also collected and organized those into a Google Drive. I made a spreadsheet that was linked to the application and combed through every application until we found around 10-15 solid choices. From there, the leads and I chose 4 artists for our storyboarding department.

Leading the Storyboarding Crew

After the team was chosen, we needed someone to lead the storyboard crew. That person was me! I was the best fit because of my previous storyboarding experience. I created a Google Doc to organize assignments  and utilized Slack to send announcements and updates. I also created a Google Drive for the department and had individual folders for each member's work. We would have weekly progress check-ins every Friday and work due every 2 weeks (for the most part).

Curating the LinkedIn

Once the storyboard department went on hiatus, I shifted my focus to building up the company's LinkedIn image and engagement. I started by making a Google Doc with a plan of what I wanted to post each month. Once I figured that out, I scheduled the posts ahead of time to post every Tuesday at 10am CST. I followed a general rule of posting something funny one week and something lore/story related the next. I utilized Canva to create most of the graphics for my posts.

What Did I Learn?

From my experience so far with the Good Looks Crew, the most valuable thing I've learned is that it truly takes a collaborative effort in order to make a project. We have a total of three production managers and we all do our own specific tasks. Working with them, the creators, and leads is so much fun and I feel so honored to be a part of it! I'm also excited to have more experience with different tasks like hiring and running a social media page. I never would have had the opportunity to branch out to that before. I'm eager to find out what's in store next for me with the Good Looks Crew!
